About SMCWA

Pinjar Park Speedway

Formed in 2005, SMCWA was the joining of forces between the junior solo club, the senior solo club and the senior sidecar club. After the closure of Bibra Lake Speedway in 2004, the future of motorcycle speedway, and in particular, the junior divisions looked very bleak without a home track. A handful of junior parents and some senior riders took it upon themselves to start construction of a new track that could accommodate both juniors and seniors. This was new territory and an almighty task, but from an unkept piece of bushland, a new speedway track was formed and thus started the era of Pinjar Park Speedway (Woffy Track)

From The Beginning

The Small Track (Woffy Track)

In 2005, the newly built Pinjar Park Speedway became the new home of solo and sidecar racing in WA. At 142m this exciting circuit was the smallest senior track and the largest junior track in the country, as well as being unique in having seniors and juniors racing on the same track. Due to it’s unique nature, the Woffy track quickly became a drawcard for national an international speedway stars. Major events including the Western Big One and later the Rob Woffinden Classic attracted some of the best riders in the world including Freddie Lindgren, Jason Doyle, Chris Holder, Darcy Ward, Tai Woffinden, Steve Johnston and Jason Crump

The New (current) Stadium

Even though the Woffy track provided great entertainment and a place to ride, it quickly became apparent that the small 142m was not enough to really open the throttle for the senior solos and even more so the sidecars. New plans were hatched to build a world-class speedway stadium in the site next door and really put Pinjar Park on the map. After years of groundwork, mostly by club volunteers, the circuit finally began to take shape and in 2018 we saw bikes hit the new 330m circuit for the first time. The new track was just what riders and fans alike had been craving as the 500cc solos and 1000cc sidecars could finally twist the throttle in anger and produce some thrilling speedway action. The new track has seen hugely successful events such as the Rob Woffinden Classic, Aus vs GB test match and Australian Sidecar Championships. Pinjar Park Speedway is now home to Solos, Sidecars, Flat Tracks and Juniors, where club events, State and National Championships as well as Special Invitational Events are held from October to April each year.
